GeForce Now is a streaming service, but it doesn't work like Netflix, or even Google Stadia. Right now, you can't buy any games from Nvidia. GFN is only for streaming games you already own from a. Steam Cloud Play is a new Steam beta program for developers. It enables studios and publishers to opt-in to support for GeForce Now. GeForce NOW is a streaming game service. This platform allows us to run any game on our Windows computer, on macOS (even if the game doesn’t work on a Mac), and even on Android without having to rely on any hardware. All games run at maximum quality and resolution and have the latest technology, such as Ray Tracing. GeForce NOW connects to digital PC game stores so you can stream your own library of games. And, every GFN Thursday - our dedicated day for highlighting the newest games, features and news - new games are added to our library. Valve is expanding Steam’s integration with cloud-streaming services. The company released new Steamworks documentation for developers that details how Steam Cloud Play works. As part of this effort, Steam is natively supporting Nvidia’s GeForce Now. That doesn’t mean all of your Steam games work with that streaming service now. But it does mean that it’s easier for developers to add GeForce Now functionality to their games from within Steam’s creator tools.

“Steam Cloud Play is currently in beta and features are being added over time,” reads Steam’s documentation. “We are now accepting a limited amount of games into the service as we continue to build features and server capacity for players.”

Valve also seems aware of the troubles Nvidia faced with developers regarding GeForce Now. When Nvidia began charging customers for that service, multiple studios and publishers pulled their support. Like many fans, Valve is characterizing cloud gaming as a Steam user playing their game on any other PC.

“These cloud services enable Steam users to play their Steam library in the cloud, one game at a time, like they can on their local PC,” reads the documentation. “Developers must manually opt-in the games they wish to make available on GeForce Now.”

This is also part of Nvidia’s efforts to build an opt-in button into various platforms. Nvidia said in April that is part of its plan to ensure ongoing support from developers.

As for Steam, this is just the start of its cloud-gaming plans. Valve says it may incorporate new streaming services in the future. But again, if it does, developers will have to opt-in separately.

GeForce NOW app v2.0.22.xx allows you to sync the Steam games you own to your GeForce NOW account. This will make it easy for you to determine which of the games you own are supported on GeForce NOW. You can find this setting under GeForce NOW app > Settings > Game Sync.
To get started, click the chain icon to set up game sync. This will start the process to log in to your Steam account.
A web browser will launch, and you will connect to Steam followed by a prompt to “Sign into www.nvidia.com using your Steam account.”. Please verify that it says 'www.nvidia.com', this will confirm you are using games sync with NVIDIA GeForce NOW. You will need a Steam profile set to public and only the Game details subcategory needs to be public so that your owned games will sync with GeForce NOW. If you elect not to do this, game sync will not work. The sync process will only trigger when you press the resync button in GeForce NOW settings.
After you have logged into your Steam account, go back to the GeForce NOW app and confirm that you are logged in and synced to the Steam account. You will see your Steam account username, when it was last updated, and the number of games you own on Steam which are available to play on GeForce NOW. In the screenshot below, this account has 92 owned games which are supported on GeForce NOW.
Now you can browse to My Library. The synced Steam games will be added as the most recent games in My Library.

Each time you buy or redeem a new Steam game you will need to resync your Steam account to add the games to My Library. Go back to GeForce NOW app > Settings > Game Sync and press the Resync button. This will add your new Steam games to your GeForce NOW My Library.
If you wish to disable Steam account game sync, simply go back to GeForce NOW app > Settings > Game Sync and press the Disconnect button.
